Welcome to Midlothian (Texas) Freethought

 Searching for a better understanding
of how the world actually is, what potentials exist,
and what yet must be done to build a better life:
through analysis and critique of social and personal conditions,
through creative inquiry for realistic solutions
to heal pain, reduce suffering, and add to hope,
and through actively testing our conclusions in the world
by our own experience and the experience of others.

Dedicated to the ideal
that every human being has worth and dignity,
and committed to a reverence for this world and all life.

"Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away."
            Phillip K. Dick

Freethinkers of UTA

Freethinkers of UTA is a group where atheists, agnostics, skeptics, humanists, freethinkers,
and anyone who promotes science and reason can come together.

We are a new student organization on the campus of the University of Texas at Arlington
 We hold meetings every other Tuesday during the semester.
Meetings usually have a discussion topic that is decided on before the meeting.  We encourage open dialogue on issues such as: Evolution vs. Intelligent Design, the Secular Roots of the American Founding, Church/State Separation, Secular vs. Religious Ethics, the effect of Religion on Society, and much more.

North Texas Church of Freethought

We are the Church for the Unchurched, offering atheists and unbelievers all the social, emotional and inspirational benefits of traditional faith-based religions, but without the superstition. Our growing community of unbelievers provides a positive, affirming environment for leading the good life free of the illogic and intolerance of religions based on holy books and supernaturalism.

DFW Metroplex Atheists

Whether you’re a believer trying to see what these crazy atheists are all about,
or a non-believer looking for like minded people, relax…take your time…look around.
We’re a friendly, accommodating group that likes to help people find what they’re looking for.

"If abuses are destroyed, man must destroy them.
 If slaves are freed, man must free them.
If new truths are discovered, man must discover them.
 If the naked are clothed;
 if the hungry are fed;
 if justice is done;
 if labor is rewarded;
 if superstition is driven from the mind;
 if the defenseless are protected
 and if the right finally triumphs,
 all must be the work of man.
The grand victories of the future must be won by man,
and by man alone." - Robert Ingersoll

Creation & Intelligent Design Watch

Evolution is a vital, well-supported, unifying principle of the biological sciences, and the scientific evidence is overwhelmingly in favor of the idea that all living things share a common ancestry. Although there are legitimate debates about the patterns and processes of evolution, there is no serious scientific doubt that evolution occurred or that natural selection is a major mechanism in its occurrence. It is scientifically inappropriate and pedagogically irresponsible for creationist pseudoscience, including but not limited to “intelligent design,” to be introduced into the science curricula of our nation’s public schools.

There you go

Was this country founded as a Christian nation ? No.

Is this countries population mostly Christian ? Yes.

Let's look at some history

"Belief... [is] acceptance of a statement as true
without supporting evidence of argument
or in the face of contradictory evidence and argument.
It is necessarily not only not knowledge,
but is the very antithesis of knowledge."

In a letter to his nephew, Thomas Jefferson said,
"Once you understand why you reject all other gods, you'll understand why I reject yours.
Question with boldness even the existence of a god,
 for if he exists, he must more honor the homage of reason than blindfolded fear"

"Let the human mind loose. It must be loose. It will be loose. Superstition
and dogmatism cannot confine it."

"Strongly guarded as is the separation between Religion and Government in the Constitution of the United States, the danger of encroachment by Ecclesiastical Bodies may be illustrated by precedents already furnished in their short history."
James Madison, undated, "Detached Memoranda," William and Mary Quarterly, 1946, 3:555

The Barna Research Group, which analyzes trends in the U.S. Christian community, recently found that one-third of Americans remain unchurched despite national efforts to increase attendance. ... The study group is made up of 56 percent who consider themselves Christians, 15 percent who are born again Christians, 20 percent who profess a non-Christian faith, and 24 percent who are atheists and agnostics.
